I have been in full time ministry with Cru or Life Ministry Kenya since 1982. My late husband and I served in Kenya and South Africa. He was promoted to glory in 2006. I continued serving with the same organization until December, 2023. Through the years my ministry focus was to mobilize the church to be involved in Evangelism and Discipleship.
Between 2010-2011, however, my focus narrowed down to minister to the Widows/Orphans. This was after seeing the great and many needs for this particular group.
99.9% of widows in Africa face many terrible challenges after losing their husbands! Mostly they are branded as killers (that they killed the husbands!). They are rejected and humiliated, chased away from their marital homes, and their children lack education. The community and also the church cut them off!
I saw these huge challenges that the widows faced and that’s why I started ministering to them, having passed through similar challenges myself!
I continue to start support groups in the communities, sharing about the love of Christ that changes not. We do Bible study together, and I bring experts to give the widows training in different entrepreneurial skills. The biggest challenge is always getting funds to start small businesses. The widows face the financial challenges of family upkeep and educating their children and also building their homes.
I am based in Machakos, Kenya.
