What We Do:
Into Africa Missions takes the practical application of the Gospel of Christ into Kenya, East Africa. Our heart is to reach a lost generation of children victimized by the AIDS pandemic, a culture of polygamy, corruption, and poverty. Our goal is to give hope and a bright future to children in crisis through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During the early years of living in Kenya, our focus was primarily rescuing children living on the streets. Then there came the realization that many babies were being abandoned. We started a rescue center for them, introducing the concept and practicality of adoption to people in our area of Kenya—even adopting two abandoned babies ourselves.

Soon other organizations ventured into our area of Kenya and joined that effort, basically taking in younger children and babies. Meanwhile, the children we rescued from the streets were becoming teenagers and young adults. Our goal became, not only to teach them the basics in a Christian education and biblical values, but to help them become self-supporting adults. We began giving them practical training in various trades, helping them to either find jobs with local businesses or helping them start their own small businesses. We offered them assistance and guidance for employment opportunities.

Some of those we trained moved up into leadership positions within Into Africa Missions. Our goal has become to pass the baton of leadership in Kenya to our leaders and future leaders. Our focus is to help each entity to become self-supporting. We help them buy properties, build rentals for income, and help them start small businesses, schools and libraries, as we send them supplies, books, and Bibles.

Who We Are:
Rick and Audrey McAninch started their trek into Africa in 1993 after nearly 25 years of marriage and raising their four children. Sensing God’s call for them to move to Kenya, East Africa, they packed and moved to Kenya in 1995. Trusting God for His provision and to direct their steps, they started by teaching the youth and advising leadership in a local church and school, while Rick remodeled the facility. Soon, it became obvious what would consume their focus—children in crisis living on the streets. The AIDS pandemic began to sweep through Africa with a vengeance. Children with lost hope headed to the streets looking for help. Into Africa Missions was born. Rick and Audrey brought children to their home, one at a time, or by the carloads. For nearly 30 years, Into Africa Missions has continued to rescue children in crisis in Kenya.

Today Into Africa Missions continues to help Kenyans to develop ways to become self-supporting as they reach into their communities with the practical application of the Gospel of Christ. As God opens more doors, our goal is to continue to help Kenyans give hope through Jesus to people living in cities, towns, and villages.

Where We Are:
Into Africa Missions is located in Kisumu, Kenya, East Africa. This diverse, developing city is the home to some 500,000 people, about 40% of whom live below the poverty line. Kenya has some of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in the world. A very large percentage of the people of Kenya live in slum estates where access to electricity, running water, and decent sanitation facilities is highly insufficient, resulting in a high rate of malaria and water-borne diseases. Though many of the youth are now able to obtain a basic education, employment for young adults is a rare find—thus, the necessity for Into Africa Missions to offer practical trades training, business skills and businesses to be built with godly integrity.
