Ion & Mihaela - EASTERN EUROPE

If you would like to contact us, please use the contact page at Redeemer Church’s Website:
I grew up in a Christian family where I met Jesus at an early age. Mihaela, my wife, started following Jesus when she was 20. We met and married while we were in college. We have three beautiful daughters who keep us on our toes and bring us much joy. We moved to Eastern Europe in 2016.

Our vision is to see a movement of gospel-saturated, grace-infused, disciple-making, multiplying, sustainable churches rooted in the post-Soviet world. We seek to achieve this vision by focussing on two main areas.

          • Theological training: A training institution in Eastern Europe invited us to help train current and future church leaders. Much of the student body is made up of students from other post-Soviet countries. This institution is well positioned to train its students in the common language of Russian and deploy them back to their countries. We seek to instill in the students a vision for the church that emphasizes a grace-infused culture of multiplication and sustainability. We also try to build into their lives outside of the classroom.

          • Church planting: We believe a working model of the kind of churches we want to see thrive needs to be established and replicated for a movement of churches to succeed. We are involved in leading a church plant in the capital. As part of this church, we are involved in our girls’ schools, compassion ministries (especially to single moms), and building relationships with gospel intentionality.

As an extension of Redeemer Church in Bellingham, WA and our partners, we serve as church planting and disciple making resources to the Church where there is little access to the gospel and gospel-centered disciples of Jesus for the glory of God. We serve in Eastern Europe to help reach into some of the hardest places in the world, to train strategic Christian leaders to do the work of the ministry, and to bring the freedom of the Gospel of grace to people stuck in religion.

Right now, Redeemer Church serves as our sending agency. They keep us accountable and make sure we are cared for.
